Our Story

We are Shar (on the left) and Drea (on the right) - founder (& founder's daughter) of TreeHouse Hippie. We co-created this business out of pure love and necessity — not trend, not fad, not imitation. 

I (Drea) am a surviving adult living with Cystic Fibrosis. Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is an autoimmune disease caused by a gene mutation that happens in the womb. CF causes life-threatening complications in the respiratory and digestive systems of the body, preventing them from achieving normal, productive function. CF patients like myself rely heavily on the use of pharmaceutical medications, breathing treatments, daily physical therapy, herbal & holistic remedies (wherever possible), and minimizing our exposure to others in order to reduce the chances of contracting germs & developing infections - which lead to recurrent hospitalizations and oxygen dependence. 

As anyone would imagine, spending your life dependent on drugs comes with tons of side effects on the body - side effects that began to manifest through my hair and skin. After a long, tedious battle of exploring store-brand and prescription body care, I got nowhere and threw in the towel.

I (Shar) was faced with the heart-breaking reality of watching my daughter suffer, and did the only thing I knew to do - PRAY. I prayed and asked God for healing for my daughter, for guidance, and for wisdom so that I would know how to help her. Those fervent prayers became the foundation of this business, as God led me into creating my own body care products.

I developed soaps, oils, and butters slowly and thoughtfully. Each formula was used and tested daily. I refined and adjusted them as needed, and solidified my formulas only after they proved gentle, effective, and restorative for my family. As my daughter began to heal and see improvements, my passion for natural ingredients and holistic remedies grew. Her transformation even led to others inquiring about what she uses on her skin... and thus, TreeHouse Hippie was born.

We started off simple, mainly focusing on Hair & Skin Care. As time passed, our brand evolved into something so much bigger than we ever imagined it would be. Body Care formulations that once served a household in crisis matured into us teaching others how to release their personal inhibitions in order to live intentionally and be resilient! We are now a brand of awareness; a brand that reminds you to make room for yourself; a brand the encourages you to live, rather than simply exist; a brand of handmade luxury and self-investment.
